i am now officially by being announced at congregation level that i am no longer one of jehovahs wihtnesses.

that news spread like wild fire and i was dropped by all jw's on facebook, which shows the level of control the borg has in this area.

what is interesting is there was no juducial committee.

"Fact finding mission" my ash, it was a witch-hunt from the get go! Often times the Elders will even go so far as to call it a Shephering Call.

i've only recently joined but i've been lurking for well over a year.

i'll just start with a bit of my story so you'll have a better idea on were i'm coming from, i've read that much of most of your posts that i feel i already know you all anyway lol.. i'm 32 years old now and for most of my life i've had jw's around me at times, my mom used to study on and off with them all through my child hood alough she never took the plunge i'm not sure why because even to this day she say's she holds the same beliefs but somethings held her back so there's doubt somewhere!.

anyway, having had the magazines around me for most my life i'd read them from time to time,but, when i reached about 17 years old i discovered nightclubs, alcohol and, well you know the rest ;-).. fast forward to my early 20's and i'd had a failed attempt at setting up my own business, my parents had split up after 25 years together and long story short i had a nervous breakdown.

Pros about being a jehovah's witness

can you personally think of any pros of being a jws?

anything that you have experienced that was and still is beneficial to you now from when u were a jw?.

Not that this isn't a good thread....

However, I'll bet that Mormons and Catholics can come up with a long list themselves of Pros about being a member of their faith as well!

So JWs, don't let it go to your head.....Because the WTBTS caused me and millions others to be judgmental, hateful, stingy, arrogant, proud & boastful with nothing to be proud and boastful about and the list goes on.....and it has almost caused me to hate religion as a whole.

I guess you can say I'm trying to work on and re-training myself to be Gooooood to my fellow man in a genuine sort of way.

i have been lurking on this site for the past 2 months.

for the past few years i have been going to the meetings and doing fieldservice out of guilt.. my husband (twisty) told me regularly i only do it out of guilt but i denied it and said it i want to do these things because i love jehovah and it is the right thing to do, but how can it be the right thing if you don't feel welcome and it feels like everyone is judging you the moment you walk into the kingdom hall.. it has taken a few years and a lot of tears to open my eyes.. over the past few years twisty spoke to me about the various things he didn't agree with but it just went over my head.

a few months ago we were lying in bed and he brought up his concerns again, and i'm not sure what was different this time but i understood and agreed with the points he was making.

Thats' one thing I've noticed over the years among JWs......a lot of tears! Odd but true!

Were Jehovah's Witnesses Correct In ANYTHING They Taught?

One thing the JWs know how to do well and continue to excell in-is bring reproach on the very God whom they worship. In fact that is what the C.O. and D.O. said at a recent 2 day circuit assembly entitled 'Let God's Name Be Sanctified'.

Their logic was....the only ones that can besmirch a name are those who embrace that name! Now that I remember, I think it was the D.O. that said that pagan based religions are the least ones that bring reproach on Jah, if you can believe that!

I'm reading along with the rest of the JWs the publication "Bearing Thorough Witness" at the Book Study Congregation Bible Study. We covered Acts chapt 9 a while back. I went through and reviewed it again for purposes of this discussion. This week we start chapter 15. I must admit, when I ponder the question "Who Did The Early Church Call Upon?"; the answer I come up with so far is Jesus 100% of the time and Jehovah 0%.

So it sounds like this thread is right on!

Apparently there is no easy way. And evidently the WTBTS is getting a great deal of negative feed back on the "Generation-New Light".

I recently attended the 2 day circuit assembly with the theme "Let God's Name Be Sanctified". Sunday has a symposium entitled "Sanctify God's Name by your Speech". And guess what? They have a skit adressing the question ......How do you explain the Overlapping Generation to someone who is struggling with it?

It was h-i-l-a-r-i-o-u-s! Brother Elder couldn't explain it either without reading word for word the one and only paragraph that adresses it in the 4/15/10 Watchtower page 10 par 14. It took all of 2 minutes for the young complaining brother to say in reply something to the effect............."Da, Okay Brother Elder thank you for helping me to understand it now. I feel better. I'll stop murmuring."
